I know what it feels like to belong to more than one place and, at the same time, to none.
I was born in Cuba and left my country at the age of four. That first transition marked the beginning of a life lived between cultures, languages, and continents.
Since then, I have built my life internationally, living in France, Russia, Canada, Mexico, and, more recently, in Spain, where I moved three years ago. Along the way, I learned to navigate different cultures, adapt to unfamiliar environments, and reinvent myself constantly. I speak French, Spanish, English, and Russian, and each language represents more than communication: it represents a different chapter of my identity.
For many years, I believed that adaptation was simply part of life. What I didn't fully understand then was the emotional cost that so often accompanies international mobility: the invisible pain of leaving or returning, the loss of familiar reference points, the challenge of rebuilding a sense of belonging, and the impact that constant transitions can have on individuals, couples, and families.
I know this not only as a therapist, but also as a woman, a mother, and an expatriate.
I was married to a foreign entrepreneur and lived the experience of expatriation within a multicultural family. Together we raised two binational children, navigating the complexities of identity, belonging, education, cultural differences, and constant relocations. I have lived international transitions from multiple perspectives: as a child, as an adult, as a partner, as a mother, and as a professional.
These experiences shaped my professional path.
The foundation of my training is a Master's degree in Integrative Psychotherapy and Transcultural Psychotherapy. My career began in the school and pediatric health field, where I worked in a children's hospital supporting children, adolescents, and their parents through emotional, developmental, and family situations. Those years taught me the profound impact that life circumstances, family systems, and emotional environments have on wellbeing.
I later established a private practice in Paris, and in addition to psychotherapy, I specialized in Expressive Arts Therapy and became an author, exploring the transformative power of creativity, self-expression, and personal growth.
Yet despite all my training, it was my own international experience that revealed to me the gap I wanted to fill. I realized that many expatriates and internationally mobile families face challenges that often go unnoticed: shifts in identity, loneliness, relationship strain, raising children in multicultural contexts, career disruptions, loss of community, and the emotional impact of starting over again and again.
From the outside, international life can look exciting and privileged.
From the inside, it can also be disorienting, exhausting, and profoundly transformative.
That is why I do this work.
Today, I help expatriates, international professionals, digital nomads and internationally mobile families navigate transitions with greater clarity, coherence, and emotional wellbeing. My work combines integrative psychotherapy, humanistic and systemic approaches, expressive arts therapy, and neuroscience-based practices to foster meaningful, lasting change.
But beyond methods and qualifications, what I offer is something many of my clients tell me they value most:
I understand.
I understand what it means to leave.
I understand what it means to arrive. I understand what it means to rebuild.
And I understand what it means to search for a home while carrying multiple worlds within.
My journey taught me that transitions are not merely logistical events, but profound opportunities for transformation.
The lesson I carry with me today is simple:
You don't need to stop being who you are in order to adapt.
When people learn to integrate their experiences, honor their history, and reconnect with their inner resources, transitions become more than periods of uncertainty. They become gateways to growth, balance, and a deeper sense of belonging, wherever life takes them.
That is the path I now accompany others in walking.
